Record your message

How to record your message:

Note: Keep it natural like you picked up the phone and called the person yourself. If using a script avoid making it sound like you are reading off a piece of paper.

Call In Studio

We provide a convenient recording system that that we call the Call In Studio. Record your message from any phone but we do recommend that you use a land line to ensure the clearest quality recording. Simply dial 530-756-1540 and follow the prompts. You can record as many times as you'd like. Only the last recording is kept. Once you hang up the phone the Call In Studio sends an automatic email to the person on file. This allows you to review the message before we send it out.

You will need a job number and pass code before you record. You can email or call 530-758-8864 to get setup.

Audio editing

Every message needs a little editing. Typically this means we increase volume on the recording as well as clean up dead air typically found at the beginning and ending of a recording. We never edit for content. If you need further editing, like cutting a piece of audio out or editing long pauses just let us know. There is no charge for audio editing.

In a future post we'll explain how to use the iPhone and the Voice Memos app to record and email us an audio file.

Simple, Effective Robo Calling Campaigns

How to use robo calls effectively:

Over the years we've seen time and time again that small to medium sized campaigns can compete with deep pocket campaigns by using robo calls. With a combination of surveys, absentee chaser and GOTV calls you can get your message out effectively without breaking the bank.

Phone list!

It starts with a targeted phone list. Here in California, most campaigns seem get their data from Political Data, Inc. You can find them here. We have no affiliation with them but they must be doing something right because we receive hundreds of phone lists from them every year that get used for automated calling projects. Working with PDI or your data company, you can pull a targeted voter list. Typically you are looking for high propensity voters or likely voters.

Survey Idea!

Once you have your targeted list, one idea is to run an automated survey. You can do a simple "race horse poll" run over a couple of hours in the evening and have a pretty good picture of where you stand. You can find a sample script here.

Absentee Chasers Idea!

Use robocalls to target Absentee Voters. Once absentee ballots hit the mail you can "chase" absentee voters with a couple of automated calls educating or encouraging the voter to consider your campaign or issue.

PDI or your data company can provide you with voters registered as Absentee and they can usually keep track of who's voted already. This is important so you don't waste time and money calling people that have already turned their ballot in.

Last but not least, GOTV calls! These are your last minute phone calls. Mail is too slow, tv and radio is sold out or not in your budget so what's left is automated phone calls. The most popular day for calling is the day before the election. Second most popular day is the Friday before the election. Saturday or Sunday seems to be a toss up as third most popular. These GOTV calls will be your last ditch effort to persuade the voter to get out and vote.

Pricing starts at 6 cents per call for up to a 30 second message. Get a Quote.

How we scrub your phone list

Phone list scrubbing

What does scrubbing a list mean? It means we "clean" the phone list by running it through our proprietary software to get a final count. Every list we see always needs some cleaning or scrubbing before we begin calling. The most important scrub is for cell phones. It is illegal to call cell phones with an automated device. If you are calling cell phones you must have expressed written consent and be able to prove it. So almost every list we run will have cell phones removed. How do we know a phone number is a cell number? We use a cell phone database that is updated monthly that we run a match against. If it is flagged as a cell number it gets removed. The next thing we look for are duplicates. Most lists will have some duplicate numbers so getting the duplicates removed will ensure that people are not getting more than one call. Some phone lists will occasionally have incomplete numbers. If a phone number does not have 10-digits it will get removed. Some phone lists will have tons of info about the person but not have a phone number. That record will get removed as well. After the proprietary software is done scrubbing, your phone list is ready for calling.

If you have any questions please email or call 530-758-8864.
